I have one almost exactly like that. No head ro foot board though. Nice design.
Looking good so far.

Stan,
This is a nice bed. You did a good job on the design and construction. What materials did you use in the construction?
Thanks for the post.

Plenty of support in this bed. Nice design. I also would like to know the materials used and planned finish. Thanks.

Very nice. I too would like to see some more details. How about a sketch of the platform construction/framework, some hints on how it’s all connected, etc. Thanks.

The materials used were 3/4” and 1/2” cabinet grade plywood, poplar and 1/2” MDF for the panels. It will be painted and I will post more shots of the frame work when I finish it. The head and footboard are fastened with connector bolts. The drawer frames are simply joined with pocket screws and glue.

The drawers will really come in handy, but I bet you already had that in mind. Made one with same design for my daughter many years ago.

do you have drawers on both sides?

Stan, That looks great. Curious did you work from a plan? My parents are moving later this year and want to get a platform bed. I may want to attempt to build them one
Thanks

CtL, I just drew up a basic set of plans and built it on the fly from there. I started with OAL and width for the mattress, from that I built the two bases. I then decided how high I wanted the head and footboard in relation to the box springs and mattress height. Then, built them according to those dimensions. I will post a few more pics of the bed broken down so that you can get a better idea of the way it is built. Good luck!
