Well I have to say that this box has been a long time in the making.
I’m a woodworker by trade and I have recently gotten into making smaller items out of some of the wood that I mill.
This box came about because I have a client that has become more than a customer and is now a dear friend.
Claire and Charles recently celebrated there 75 anniversary, besides being a set of great folks they have heaped a lot of work my way, this box was a show of appreciation on my part back to them.
Going back to the beginning I probably milled most of these woods 2-3 years ago, and they all were in a much larger slab form. I’m somewhat fortunate that I can pick and choose the woods that I want to work with and in this case it worked out for the best.
To me each selection of wood should have some meaning , either what it represents or what it will bring to a project.
The insert in the lid sums up the materials and why I choose them.

That is really nice. Wood selection and balance makes it very pleasing to the eye.

Beautiful box!
Nice patches on those 2 front corners. I wouldn’t have noticed them if I hadn’t done something similar myself. Fixing mistakes is where true skill and craftsmanship shows!
