Here is a desk I made for the entryway to my home. It is made from ribbon stripe mahogany. It is finished in oil and wax. After this project, I doubt I would use ribbon stripe mahogany again, The alternating grain structure makes it difficult to sand and plane.
I have also included pictures on how I cut the curved half-lap legs. It took some thought on how to set-up the templates to get this right.
Enjoy

This tables design blew a breath of fresh air through my house. Really. Anyway this is the type of post that keeps me looking to Lumberjocks.com for inspiration.

The large top piece makes the slender legs look as if they are holding more weigth then they are suppose to. Great way to make a piece get that second look. Nice design.

Thanks for the comments. Ribbon Stripe Mahog is very difficult to work with. Don’t think I would use it again. Working on a project with Sapele right now. Will post pics when I finish.
Have your say...
