My son who is a US Marine had this Flag flown in a US Marine Harrier during his recent deployment in Afghanistan.
It is signed by his commanding officer Lt. Col. Christopher Raible. On September 14 2012 Camp Bastion was attacked by the Taliban ,my son and Lt. Col. Raible were involved in a fierce battle that lasted for hours. Unfortunately Lt. Col. Raible was killed along with another fellow Marine Sgt. Bradley Atwell. This was presented to my sons High School.

And the worst part is that the average person knows nothing about this particular event. I was fortunate to serve in a Marine sqauadron a few years ago. I bleed salt water as a Sailor but there is something special about a United States Marine. I pray every night for God to watch over our deployed families for them to have a peaceful night’s rest. You made a very respectful token of gratitude to present to the school. Just a note to offer but I think a little story about the event framed up to go next to it would allow everyone who sees it to appreciate it even more. I am thankful for your son’s service, Merry Christmas Marine Dad.

Thanks Al. My son is a second generation Marine. I must say it is a honor that he wanted to be like his Dad. I served in the early 80s. Once a Marine always a Marine. Semper Fi.
Thanks for your service sir.

Sadly, Al is right, ”...the average person knows nothing about this particular event.” Too busy voting for the next American Idol to take note of the real heroes that remain absent from the vision of Americans. Most Americans’ sense of urgency is misplaced. They tend to act after the fact and only when tragedy is upon them! Your son is indeed a honored member of ‘The Next Greatest Generation.” I salute your son and every American who wears the uniform in support of the constitution that enables our fragile freedoms. Semper Fi! God blessed you. Merry Christmas.

Honorable, yet sad for those involved. We owe them so much.

Excellent job. You must be very proud. My son is with VMA 214 there in Yuma, and has several friends in the 211. We had one of the guys from the 211 stay at our home recently while he and my son went to the OSU – Michigan game. Semper Fi. God bless.
