This project started out as a gift for a single family, 4 snowmen carved and cut out with a CNC machine, then painted and mortised into a plywood base. They liked it so much, I made this version for my inlaws. I thought it could look like a Christmas tree, but represent their family as well. The snowmen were carved out of 1/4 inch baltic birch plywood and glued into a stand made of 1/2 inch baltic birch plywood. Each row of snowmen has a 1/4 inch gap between it and the row behind it to allow for easier reading of the name/Christmas caroling Hymnal. I painted everything in black acrylic (front and back) then painted around the recessed carvings with the other colours to leave a black outline around the shapes. I finished it with a couple coats of spray matte finish. Word to the wise, the wood working took almost no time, the painting however was giving me fits by the time I finished.

Great idea. Maybe another future project would include laser images of actual family members on the tree!

I have never looked into Laser images and have no idea how that works Charles, Do you know anything about that process?

That is so cute!
