So last weekend I went over to my neighbors to see his woodshop. He loves woodturning, and he can’t get enough of it. Same with me. Lol! When I walked in I was amazed at his woodshop. Tools everywhere!

He has a General wood lathe. It has a 20 inch swing over the bed. He was turning this walnut bowl when I walked in. In the one photo his chainsaw accidently cut into the blank when he was rounding it out, so he filled that hole with ground up coffee beans in epoxy. Looks kind of cool. You know how people always say they see someone in a marble counter top or a piece of wood, well I see one in this one! Lol! if you look at the last picture you can kind of see a face and neck of a person, then in the center of the face there is the nose. Above that you can see 2 little indentations for his eyes. And then finially below his nose is his mouth. If you can’t see it let me know. My neighbor turned this one.

I have a few more turnings to be posting, this one is 1 out of 4

One of these days I will have a lathe… I keep seeing these turning projects and I just keep turning green with envy. Very nice piece!

I thought you were referring to the face on the bottom. I see a sort of stylized version of ‘The Scream’ (if you tilt your heat to the left for pic3) or is it just me.

Cool bowl either way.
