I did this fun project for my kids preschool class. Their school has a fundraising auction every year and each class works with a parent to make something that gets auctioned off.
So, I gave each of the kids a 4”x12” piece of paper and asked them to draw any crazy shape they wanted. I then cut out the shape and gave it back to them to paint.
Originally, this was to be a very simple straight bench. It turned out there were too many kids in the class (counting part-timers) so I had to improvize and made this “conversation” bench with an “s” shape.
The bench is made of cherry (for the seat) and walnut.
It was a fun collaboration! All thoughts are welcome…

Absolutely a great project…. involving the kids like that. I read an article where a glass maker took children’s drawings of ‘monsters’ and sculpted them in glass. Great effect of the conversation bench.
