Another piece for my daughter. She saw a armoire at Pottery Barn that she just loved and asked if I could copy it. Sure, I said. By the time I got around to starting it had been removed from the show room floor so I couldn’t get any of the construction details so I just winged it.
The carcass is made from birch plywood, the face frame, false drawer fronts and trim are poplar, and the drawer boxes are baltic birc plywood. All of the drawers are on self closing full length drawer glides (really like them), the mirror is beveld and held in a frame cut with a door and stile router bit set with the back side rabbeted for the mirror and. All the drawer fronts were made with door and stile router bits and a panel raising it. The two doors have rare earth magnets let in to the frame and pull them selves shut. The door and dawer knobs are all hand made, not store bought.
Stained dark to match the inspiration piece and about 3 coats of a wipe on poly finish. It’s a pretty heavy piece but it’ll last for ever.

Beautiful work. Daughter should love it.

Very nice, very nice indeed. Beautiful piece of furniture, great craftsmanship.
