Mantle clock made from Sapele, Bolivian Rosewood, and a little Curly Maple.

Bought a clock kit from Woodcraft for the movement and clock face.

Didn’t follow any plans just used some pictures for ideas and sized to fit clock face.

Finished with boiled linseeed oil, minwax polycrylic to seal rosewood, and topped with Arm R seal gloss.

Didn’t read up on finishing rosewood prior to first attempt finishing and had to strip finish off and start over.

Warning!!!!!- oil based poly will not dry on rosewood unless you seal it with something else first.

I use either thinned shellac or Waterlox on the oily woods. Both dry pretty fast.
I love making clocks and this one is really, really well crafted. Love the finish.

That’s a nice looking clock. Good job.
