Goncalo Alves Coffee Table

The coffee table is made from solid Goncalo Alves. The table measures 39” x 21” x 18”. Both the top and the shelf ‘float’, being supported by a grid of thin Goncalo Alves strips. I had two problems with the table, the first being the wood tended to warp and did not glue well with the standard yellow glue. Wiping the joints first with alcohol seemed to help the gluing process by possibly removing surface oils from the wood.

Good looking table, Nice color. Love the dogs and the tennis ball. We have a Chlt Lab that thinks Tennis Balls are the greatest thing in the world. She is a service dog so when we take her to the hospitals to see the Senior Citizens and kids and she spots the tennis balls on they’re walkers it kills her she cannot have it. Smile.
Well done.

Beautiful wood. Great project.

My Labradors are waiting for endorsement money from a tennis ball maker :-)

That is a gorgeous looking table.

The finish looks like it is from a rendering palette from some photo editor as is it so rich!
