This is a very nice bed. I am a fan of mission style furniture and cherry is my favorite wood with which to work. What is not to love about this? It looks like you did a nice job on the construction and finish.
I have one of these, either as a mission style or sleigh bed, on my to do list. After 31 years I have learned to just do what I am told so I will let my wife make the decision on the style of bed.
Thanks for the post.

Nice job on the bed, Pat. Nothing like cutting all of those mortises to teach you patience.

that’s a nice looking project. beds are on my list of future projects also.
I’ve been looking at the miller dowel system for a little while trying to decide if it’s worth it or not. what’s your opinion considering you’ve used them?

The Miller Dowel works very well. I like the contrasting woods available as well. The matching drill bit makes for an amazing fit. Worth the money.

Looks great! I have been considering making this bed myself, although no footboard for me. My feet hang off the end of the bed :)
