My Mom has a calendar that she buys every year from an Italian Bakery, so I wanted to make something nice for her to hang it on for Christmas. This frame was sized for it (about 28”x18”). I used oak and black walnut for the frame and 1/4 baltic birch for the backing. I used half-lap joinery on the router table and tried out router inlay for the first time with the autumn dogwood leaves design. The leaves of the design are mesquite and the branch is black walnut. The process went pretty smooth and there were a few gaps that I was able to hide with some glue and saw dust. Hope you all like it! Now I just have to ship it home and hope it arrives in one piece!

Very unique piece, i like it. The inlay turned out awesome- a great detail on an already nice piece.

What are you going to finish it with ?

Thanks for sharing.
