I’ve been making wands for the past 5 or so years, some more fancy then others. Great way to use wood that may otherwise end up on the burn pile.
Most of the wands tend to be on the plain side as the price is a little easier for parents to handle. However, I do have had some in a store in Seattle that were purchased by an instructor for magic wand classes.

The wands are usually between 11 and 14 inches but some have been as long as 18. When one potential customer told me he like one wand but it was too long, I offeeered to trim it for him, he declined saying if I cut it, all the magic would be lost. I’ve always wondered how he thought the wands were made, didn’t he realize I cut them to the size and shape they are or did he think I reached into the tree and pulled them out in the finished form.

-- to turn or not to turn, is that really a question?

Something completely different. Love it!
