This was my third project, a medium-sized jewelry box made from red oak. This was an original design, although I relied heavily on an article in Fine Woodworking to create it. These were the second set of handcut dovetails I tried, and they turned out fairly well. (My first set was not a pretty sight.) I left it unstained, just finished with polyurethane.

Hi Bob,

This is a beautiful box. And you did a wonderful job with the dovetails. I am not sure what iteration I am on but I can guarantee you that they are still ugly. This is a very well constructed project and it turned out quite well.

Thanks for the post.
