Inspired by the Amber Room of Russia…
Just got the last coats of finish on the top of this table, and thought I should share!

A gorgeous piece of Redwood Burl…I have inlaid it with Natural Amber, which is backed with 22k Gold.
I photographed it in the afternoon sunlight, it was almost too bright with the suns reflection off the gold…Love IT! The Amber was very different to work with, trying to “max out” the material, while preserving the interesting characteristics, there is a little ant floating in one of the pieces, and a few other interesting things…Isn’t nature Amazing?
It is actually quite understated when viewed from an angle when you don’t get the “pop” from the gold…I am still dusting off the base, it is going on a birdseye burl base, that peeks out through the concave area
Yep, a little bit of work in this one, and a couple of dollars too…

Materials:
Redwood Burl, Natural Amber, Gold
Finish :
Catalyzed Lacquer

This is simply gorgeous. You put together a very unique blend of materials. Joni, this is a fantastic piece.

Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed seeing this piece.

I think that is a great idea for filling in the void. But this is going to sound bad, but I think the wood is prettier than the gold.
