The wife wanted a headboard/footboard. She wanted to paint it, so I used box store pine. First raised panels ever attempted, done with tablesaw. Waited quite a while to post it as I wasn’t super happy with it. Hindsights 20/20, boy those post tops have sharp corners, and I have the bruises/scrapes to prove it.
Thanks for looking, all comments welcomed.

Looks like the wife is happy with it. It seems like regardless of how many times I go over a project checking for sharp edges, I always find one after the fact. Good job.

Looks great! I like the looks of the sharp edges but they will always come back to bite ya.

The bed looks great. However, I’m confused on how you convinced your wife to help you finish the project :) That’s the skill I need to master.

Was this off of a plan or a personal design? My wife likes the look of it.

BuzzBate – Haha, it’s like pulling teeth! I told her that if it was going to be painted that she had to help. It helped in me in the way that she now agrees that I need an airless sprayer!
Derosa Thanks, we just looked at other beds and kind of designed our own. No plans.

Nice! I always build stuff straight out of my head and end up saying, “well that should have been there, and that should be this way” but it’s just an opportunity to sell it on craigslist and build another one, the “right” way. I think you could just swap out those post caps and that bed would be as safe as it is beautiful. haha

I was going to build a bed like that, using plans from ana-white.com. However, I let my wife talk me into buying a Cost Plus bed frame made in Vietnam. My tools didn’t talk to me for weeks they were so mad.
Nice job on the bed. Feel lucky you have a wife willing to help in the shop. U picked wisely.
Have your say...
