Gun Safe Clock

A friend of mine who is a Detective wanted me to make a gun safe for him and left it up to me to decide what it looked like. I figured everybody has a clock, so it wouldn’t be obvious. I put a hinged door on the front for a little fake-out and used Soss hinges for the hidden compartment, so the hinges wouldn’t show on the outside of the box.

I didn’t want the hidden compartment to be too deep and make the outside of the clock look too obvious that something was going on. So I measured my own semi-automaic and sized it that way. There was also room for another compartment for extra clips etc.

He liked it so much that he had me make 8 more for his brothers and brothers-in-law for Christmas gifts. I also made one for him to give his partner when he retired. Oh yeah, I made a Tambor style mantle clock/safe for his mothers bedroom side table. Ya gotta love a granny who’s packing!!!

That is absolutely fabulous. Great job.

Don’t make that family angry either! :-)

Nice way to keep busy! And you made some money to boot. Clever piece. Make too many and they won’t be a secret? LOL!

Great idea! I’m going to have to use this, with your permission of course. Thanks for the post.

MasterSergeant and HillbillyShooter, be my guest! If you guys make any improvements, please let me know.

Doc, I wondered about that, but I figured my friends at LJ would benefit, so let the good times roll.
