Slightly modified Norm Abram’s plans for a planter’s desk (added 2” to legs). With three homeschooled daughters, this project fit the bill perfectly. It has a built-in bookcase, with a lift-up writing table top that allows storage of school supplies. Total materials cost (pine) less than $120.

A great little project for teaching new woodworkers different tools and techniques.

This is a nice project. I like the beadboard and tapered legs. They add nice details to the desk. Did you make the molding on this piece as well?

It does look like she is ready to launch into the day’s lessons. :)

Thanks for the post.

This is an extremely simple project for the novice woodworker. The trim is a standard door trim from Lowe’s.

That’s a great piece of furniture. Guess you’ll be building 2 more? Thanks for sharing.
