Chinese Elm Tray

This is from a limb off a chinese elm tree that came down in the July derecho storm. It started out about 3’ long and as I worked it, I carved/shaped it down to 24’’ L x 4’’ W and it sets about 2’’ H. The bottom “rest” is also a piece of elm bark that came off of this piece and is attached with CA glue. I finished it with Danish oil and I think it turned out okay. Thanks for the looks and comments.

I like it. My Chinese Elm was darker than that. But it was also old and dead.

i like it, you have spurred me on to try something like this with some cherry i have…if it turns out ill post it and see what you think..maybe a good place for some christmas candy…

I really like this one, nice lines and a very different wood to work with. Great job on it!

Oh yea! Now this seems to be a very beautiful banana split holder. :) Thnx, now, I gotta go make a banana split. LOL It really is beautiful
