Hello,
I designed and made this make-up caddy for my wife. I made it with white oak for the body and a piece of wedge for the bottom.
The thin slot is for her work ID and money or bank card. The holes are for her chapstick or other round items and the bigger slot for her nail polish and what not.
She loves it!!

Love it! What are the dimensions?

The overall dimensions are …1-3/4×4 x 6 . (1-1/2 thick oak, 1/4 wedge)

I am a bit curious about a couple of things.
Does she carry this in the bottom of her purse? or leave it on the dressing table? Then why the slot for a credit card??
Now, about the two Sharpies … one red and one black. Could this be so that the mascara won’t run??
or are the really red and green to mark the left and right … port and starboard? .... never mind. :)

funny guy grumpy. Lets see…she puts this stuff in the box, which sits on the bathroom counter. In the morning when she is getting ready for work, all her things are in one spot (including the stuff she uses at her job)

OK, now I see how it works … Good Idea and well done. I like the Idea of having things in one spot to grab and run in the morning.
Thanks for the post and BTW Welcome to LJ’s, looking forward to seeing more of your projects.

Dean, I like the project holder. It is compact, well thought out, and purpose-driven. It fits between the basins. The rounded surfaces look finger friendly. The contrast in the woods used give it eye appeal. Great job. In terms of utility, your design is superior, but I would have tried to make it into a box so everything was not as visible on the counter. Did you raise it up with plastic feet to prevent its getting wet when there is a spill of water?
If you are working your posts through Picassa or some other program, you might want to adjust the format to a different picture size so your work shows better in the zoom format.
I liked your intarsia work. Welcome to Lumberland. Keep posting and keep boxing.
