Girls and horses. I’ve come to learn that there is something special about the bond between them and just about everything that goes with it. I made this tote out of some odds and ends of maple and cherry to go along with a tack trunk I made for her last year. In fact the panel in front of the tote was made to attach to the trunk. Nothing particularly special here, it was just really fun to make.

Great looking tote Doc.
The spline work in the handle and through tenon is really nice.

Your granddaughter is very fortunate to have such a skilled granddad. The more colorful pictures show the beauty of the wood you used in this project. I’m sure she will treasure the things you build for her even more as she becomes older.

How did you do the lettering? Is it engraved or carved or did you use a router and letter templates? Where does the color in the letters come from? I’m always curious …

Very beautiful. Yes girls and horses are an inseparable combination. Not sure why.
