I built this Fort Bed for my son (turning 3 years old in a few weeks). We have a small house and needed room under his bed for a train table we are going to do for Christmas. He loves his new bed and it achieved what we wanted to; planning on doing my daughters next.

Cool project and perfect for the little man. I’m sure he loves his big boy bed. We had the same door before we remolded the house.

Nice bed, but for a 3 year old, I’d put on a taller rail to keep them from falling out.

I’m with HalDougherty, you should have built higher rail .
Anyways, great work!

The rail actually works good for him because he is old enough to understand (3 yrs. old). It is 4’-0” open below so making a high rail was not something I wanted to do because the bed would be so big and overwhelm the room. With that said I will make the bed a litle lower and the rail higher for my daughter (2 yrs. old).

das247365 – I certainly got you but I was thinking for the safety of your child. Maybe he is old enough to understand but what if he might fall while sleeping.

Your imput is appreciated; he has been sleeping in this bed for over two months now…the rail is not an issue. Thanks-

I am sure it is a bliss to sleep in his fort.
Well done.

Cool boy bed. Good for kids to see you make things yourself for them.
