Project Information

I might catch a bit o flack over these, but, what the hay. The top is a glue-up of Ash that was stained with Mixol, (my 1st attemp at using the Mixol stain), then 3 coats of MinWax Satin Poly.
The frame as you see is metal, and the seats are some sort of hard fiberglass like stuff. I re-painted them to jaz them up a little for my 2 Granddaughters, they are 3 and 2, for Christmas.
Thnx for looking. All comments, good, bad, and/or ugly are appreciated.
It's been a bit since I've been able to do anything shop related. I am way behind on things. BUT, oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes.
P.S. It took me 3 days to clean up the chrome legs, cuz they were pretty rusted up. :)
OH, and P.S.S. : I did run these tops thru my drum sander that I aquired a few months ago, and it is just awesome! Yea fer me for having one.

Hey Pete. My Grnddaughters mother, and her twin (my twin girls, just turned 30 this year), had school desks (not as fancy, I wasn't a woodworker back then), and I'm sure these will bring back many memories for them.

Why would you catch flack for these? The kids will love them.

I did one like this (the tops were good enough to just refinish) from the flea market and my niece used it for years. I dig the paint job!

Congratulations on getting some shop time! These are super cool-love the color scheme for a couple of very special little girls. Glade your new drum sander worked so well. Only thing I don't understand is who would give you any flack over this great wood working project made for a man's granddaughters. Thanks for sharing and good to see you posting again.

Roger,
Maybe you should have bored some shallow holes for ink wells, or do they still make ink that is not in a printer cartridge??
