This is my latest cabinet built from walnut with shedua door panels, the drawer fronts where applied as a veneer since i don,t like machine made half blind dovetails for there rounded glue surface. I am able to cut through dovetails, glue together the boxes then apply the fronts to create half blind joints. For the drawer boxes i used some recycled mahagoney and the back of the cabinet was panel and frame construction using some colourful maple heart for the panels. The shedua door panels where quarter sawen with some nice suttel figure. I used quartered walnut for the door stiles & rails for stability and minimal movement which allowed me to make the gap between them close, i planed the edges of the doors just enough to be able to insert a piece of stickynote paper between them, since the cabinet was built in september,( the end of our humid season) i felt this would be sufficent.
