Faith Plaques

These plaques are done with Walnut backgrounds and Red Oak ply on front. They’re kind of cool because your carefully cut out the word Faith and you have two plaques that can be made. The one has a little more detail than the other, but they still look good. The little words cut out were such a pain to sand. I think I sanded away some of my fingernails holding them to the mop sander. Also had to be very careful how close they were held too. They are only 1/4” thick and 1/2” tall at tallest point. I mop sanded the little words because I wanted to soften them up a little.

The Walnut background is 3/4” thick and the Red Oak is 1/4” thick. I finished them with several light coats of spray laquer.

The pattern is by Deborah Nicholson out of the magazine Creative Woodworks and Crafts.

Thanks for looking and I love sharing.

Thank you for sharing—looks like the hits just keep coming. Very nice work, and I agree that sanding is tedious at best and it is definitely not my favorite part of wood working.

That is so cool- a positive and negative image of the same word!!
That is neat that you can use the cut out from the first one to make the second one.!!............Jim
