So for my second woodworking project, my wife requested an entertainment center. Spending $1,200+ to purchase a premade one wasn’t much of an option, so I constructed this piece for around $400 total. The shell is constructed entirely out of 3/4 inch plywood with 3/4 MDF doors and tops and 1/4 inch plywood backing. I was hesitant to paint this large of a piece of furniture (7’ x 6’) white, but it actually looks pretty good in the living room. Please don’t tell my wife that she was right about the color.

You’re doing beautifully! What type of plywood did you use friend?

9 ply birch. Decent wood is very difficult to find in this area. Cabinet grade plywood has to be special ordered and is around $65 a sheet.

I won’t tell her. I hate when that happens. Really nice piece. Well done.

You’ve done a fine job on this piece. It looks really nice and I like the design.
