Hi,
I was getting a 72 Gallon Bow Front tank and wanted to build my own. What can I say the junk you can buy at the local fish store leaves a lot to be desired. The tank was going in my bedroom and wanted a pullout laptop shelf. I did not need extra storage space and hate working in the enclosed cabinets of typical aquarium stands. Oh yea, I intentialy built the large pads under the peddistals so as not to damage the brand new carpet.
So this is what I came up with.

Looks like it should hold about 600 pounds! Nice job.

very cool…I have had fish tanks on and off my whole life…this is a great design…i lke the large pads for the carpet…that makes good sense with sure a large tank…they are soooo heavy when filled…
what finish did you use? in the third photo the finish looks differnt thatn the first…
and most importantly—-WHAT FISH do you have???
And you are right…the stands in fish stores are junk…if I ever get another tank…i will build one too!!!

Excellent job. Almost too nice to hide under an aquarium.

Now that’s what I call multi-tasking.

Randy,
This is a gorgeous stand. You did a nice job with the construction. You are right about the ones in the pet shops. These can hardly be called fine furniture and are grossly overpriced.
Well done!!
