(Some people will do anything to get their dogs on the internet.)

nice looking table. I know what you mean, my mom has an everything must match style also. I love the natural finish on the dog, it really brings out the grain. thanks for the post.

Thanks for the kind words!
Dusty- the dimensions are 19”W x 30”L (top) and 30”H. The drawer is dovetailed (router)- hadn’t learned to do handcut dovetails at that time. I did turned the knob.
The dog is Quigley.

That dog model is spot on! Well proportioned and the attention to detail is awesome. Carving the individual hairs must of been mind numbing!

Very good looking table. well dimensioned. Your wife is correct. Simple yet the beauty of the wood completes it. Sometimes I think we can get carried away with so many different colors of wood. There is a place for that to in furniture, but I what I see here in this piece is perfect.

Wow, it even matches the dog. Nice looking table.

When you said that everything must match. You even make it match the dog.
Great job. Nice design

Excellent table. How did you cut the “hole” for the drawer? Did you rip the top and bottom and crosscut the middle section for the “hole”? I’m building a similar table with a drawer that isn’t the size of the whole face and wondered about the best way to cut and reassemble.

Bill,
I cut the hole. The long cuts were made with a circular “trim saw” and a straight edge guide. I plunged the saw into the board, close to one end, backed up to the vertical layout line and then forward to the opposite end. The vertical end cuts were made with a jig saw using and a speed square as a guide/straight edge. The vertical cuts were the toughest- trying to get absolutely straight cuts. Hint- don’t size the drawer front until after the hole is cut.
Good Luck!

Hi Lew,
This is a nice table. You did a good job with the construction and finish.
I am sure that you wife liked it but did it pass Quigley’s inspection?
Thanks for the post.
