The first wood project I ever worked on was a simple carved message in a chunk of pine to my Mother when I was like 10 (I can’t remember how old I was, I could have been 8 <laugh>) . So I thought it would be fun to give her another one. She keeps Sweet-n-Low in a plastic cup, now she can keep it in style, at least compared to the plastic cup :)

This is a nice gift for your mother. Did you find end grain turning to be difficult?

Joe,

That is a wonderful Mother’s Day gift. I am sure that she will treasurer it as much as she as she does the one you made when you were 8.

This is a nice post and an even nicer story behind it. Thanks for sharing.
