This is aspen bark inlayed into a turned wood wheel on my latest reactive metal finish. I turned the outer portion on my lathe using the outside turning radius so I can turn a 30’’ piece of wood. I then turned the inside out of oak making it larger than the outside wheel so I can get a wheel with spoke effect. I then made the outside holder legs out of a large scrap steel pipe saddle cut off. Using the curves to match the wheel . I then put the polychrome reactive metal finish I invented on the metal and the wood and acid washed it to give it the rusted look. I then used a metal laquer to give it a shiny finish. I call it ” Restless Imagination” for it is a kinetic sculpture that rotates with a restless look from all angles. All this and Heaven too.
