Spalted Hackberry Bandsaw Box with False Bottom

I have a stock pile of this stuff (Spalted Hackberry) but each box has it’s story, this box I used penned hinges and added a false bottom, once again the tray was made as a key for opening the false bottom by way of rare earth magnets, by lifting the tray out and spinning it 180 degrees and placing it back in the box is how the key is activated and then by lifting out the tray, it also lifts out the false bottom. Measurements are 8 1/2” x 3 1/2” x 5 1/4”

Thanks for looking and always enjoy reading the comments that follow. :)

That’s just too cool. Hackberry has been very good to you.

Thanks Monte, you’d be amazed if you saw how much of this hackberry that I have. LOL

Only thing is I don’t think I can dedicate these hackberry boxes to any certain category. I’m just going to label them as what ever you might want use them for.

Beautiful hackberry and I love the ‘invisable’ hinge pins. The false floor/secret compartment is cool as well.

Thomas only on the Pen Hinges, I’m still struggling with other hinge methods. :)

Nice looking box again Randy. I do like the looks of the Hackberry….I would love to cut a bandsaw box from some of that.
