First run at box elder. A decent log but not spectacular. I used poplar for the lid. The hinges are box elder done with grizzman style . The tray is maple with red cedar bottom.

It’s 12” x 8” x 6”.

Box Elder has almost sweet smell when your cutting it. Fairly easy to work with.

Nice colors in both the poplar (mine is a lot lighter and greenish0 and the box elder (nevver had any of that). Box turned out well and you know I love wooden hinges!

So I have to ask what does “The hinges are box elder done with grizzman style” mean? I’m a newbie.

Budman,

There is a wonderful group of art box builders here. Changed my perspective on boxes. You are in for a treat.

Monty,

What’s not spectacular?

I can see that Monty. I am so glad I found this site. Really a lot of great ideas and a wealth of experience to draw on – and maybe I can give back in some way.
