Ottoman

So, I had some scraps left over from the cabinets made earlier this year and needed somthing to do with them. My wife at the time was about 8 weeks from giving birth to our third child (Due Nov 30th), and wanted somthing to rest her feet on, so, an ottoman it was. I almost had enough long pieces for everything, but did have to buy a small amount of poplar for one rail, and the legs as well as the piano hinge and lid support. I had some .75” MDF laying around, and used that for the bottom and the top. Used leftover .5” baltic birch for the panels. My wife picked up fabric and foam to upholster the top. I think the fabric and foam were the most expensive purchases for this project! Turned out pretty nice though, and has been a blessing for both of us. Not only do we have a place to rest our feet, but a place to store blankets too! Bonus!

I had to laugh at your scrap bin but it did turn out rather well indeed. She’ll need a place to rest her legs soon and those are pleasing colours and a nice build to do it on.
