Just a quick shot of my new shaving horse.. my last one spent to many winters in the snow and needed to be replaced.. I don’t have room inside for this one either, but did put (4) coats of spar urethane on it to help with
the weather.. spend lots of time on the seat of this… Just can’t beat the old ways… thanks for looking Papa

Great!!!. I am peeling logs to make a log railing for my home. I need 200 pickets. With this I can cut them to a bit more than length and peel them much easier I think. I am going to give it a try, thanks. Doug

this is a Sam Maloof style cherry rocker, for some reason the only pic I could find has my Granddaughter about to sit in it.. that’s Starry and she is Papa’s girl.// she owns me and knows it.. haha!
https://s3.amazonaws.com/lumberjocks.com/mczxkns.jpg!
this is a mahogany topped table with some long hand shaped legs that I did on the Horse..

these are the legs for the walnut table that I shaped on the horse.

the classic Oak rocker

these are twisted oak legs for a queen sized bed that I made,, all done by hand.

Hey oldtool, here are some pics for ya of horse stuff.. hope ya like..
thanks for the comments.. I love it old,,,,//Papa

Papa, you do some really good work, real nice stuff. Those rocking chairs are beautiful, as well as the twisted oak legs. Lot of nice hand work.
Did you make the two seat bench behind “Papa’s girl” in the first photo?
As a side note: I know what you mean by the statement “she owns you”, I’ve got 4 “masters” that get whatever they want from me.
Happy shavings to you, thanks for showing, Oldtool.

Nice work there Papa. I was trying to shave soem maple logs Sandy kindly deposited on my driveway for a mallet head and your shaving horse is just the ticket. Stashed away in the faves file for a future build.

thanks to all, love working on the horse, its just relaxing to spend a couple hours shaping wood by hand..
big pile of shavings laying around you when your done.. now that’s a good time..
Oldtool, sorry can’t take credit for the deacons bench in the back round..its a family hand me down..
And yes I also have four of them… they all have their way with Papa, but she is the only girl and the youngest so of course she has me the worst.. she comes through the door and says “Papaaaaaaaa” and that’s it,,, she can have anything she wants.. haha ..but now a days that is my job.. making her happy… and I love my work..Papa
