These two boxes are cut from the same boards The sides are figured walnut, and the top is a beautiful piece of spalted figured maple. It’s the first time I have seen so much pink in the spalting. Its just cool. Is there anything wrong with just sanding, polishing and framing a board? Think I might just do that if I ever find one like it again.

Mother natures art work can’t be beat. I don’t blame you for wanting to just frame boards with that much character, although the boxes you made really showcase the wood grain.

You do have a good eye for wood! Great boxes. I have seen wood framed and put on the wall as ART. I loved it. I often look at the frame of a painting as much as the painting.

Bill, these are beautiful examples of native wood. What about adding a lift for the top? Could you show an inside view so we could see the hinge arrangement? Nice stuff here. Keep boxing and keep posting.
