I started this project back in August. My MSgt (boss) will be leaving us in December and I wanted to ensure he had something from his Marines, so I started working on this for him. I had countless ideas of how I wanted this to be completed but those changed at every step along the way but the end result turned out better than imagined. It is not “100” percent done. I still have a black brass plate that I will be having engraved and will go on the front side under his name (this will happen closer to his departure). I also will be adding a chain to hold the lid with opened.

It is made out of red oak. The name and SOI portion I did by hand and router. The sides I had done by Chris at blue world in Oceanside, CA with his laser engraver.

It has a ton of flaws, due to inexperience and lack of tools but in the end I feel like they are hardly noticeable unless your looking for them and overall I feel like the box turned out amazing and I am very happy about it.
