Well ya know theres probably 50 different types of maple, lumped into 2 classes….. hard & soft. This is soft maple. this particular log was from a rock maple or swamp maple. & it is full of “defects” That I love. The worm holes are great! Thanks, Ted.

Ted,

This is a gorgeous table. I have gained a real appreciation for pieces like this. Your butterfly signature adds a nice detail to these type of pieces.

Are those your stoobles that you posted earlier in the background?

Thanks for the post.

Just my opinion , wouldn’t the legs look better if they were a little more “rustic” and maybe a little”beefier”and at a slight angle ? That top is fantastic and I love all the mixed grain and colors in it , but the legs appear to be toothpicks sticking straight up out of the floor. I hope this doesn’t sound mean to you , because it isn’t meant to be. : ) Love the butterflies too !

I tend to agree with you… however, look up mid century modern table on ebay. alot of the vintage pieces have legs just like mine. Thanks.

yes they do, but not with that top. I concur with D56. A beautiful slab with “skrooz-on” legs. Sorry man, but this is what “peer reviewed” is like. I could see you making a dragon fly out of the butter fly inlay at the crotch and addidng some sort of whimsy to the piece but you didn’t. what did you do. Other than having a nice piece of wood to start with . . .what did you add? You sanded a slab and added some turned legs, inappropriate to the top. Sorry for being an a$$ but it had to be said. You can’t poke four toothpicks in a doughnut and call it pastry . . .

P.s. looking up “furniture” on Ebay is like looking up skirts at the convalescent home. Sure you can do it but . . .

Yall can gripe all you want! But my truth is, is that this piece will sell fast & for a good price. I’m not trying to win a contest, just feed my family.

Tex, you make a good point, creating a signature piece and making something that will sell (and feed the kids) are two different worlds. What would this sell for. if you don’t mind me asking?

Dusty your comments were not offensive. I appreciate constructive criticism. I, myself, prefer chunky legs and as you can see from my other bench, solid slab legs. My point was that there IS a flavor for everyone and moderne is one. I try to provide a variety. I also just dont care for rude criticism, it seems to show a lack of character and intelligence.
