fender bass guitar re-finish

this is a basswood guitar that i re-finished for a friend of mine. before i touched it, it had the original black paint and lacquer from the factory. i stripped it and used a dark walnut stain, topped it off with several coats of NC lacquer. wet sanding and polishing followed that.

I always preferred my fender guitars over my gibsons. Looks like a nice job on the refinish.

someone who knows guitars! you may appreciate this then, my friend (bassplayer/singer in my band) asked me to do my best to replicate the elvis costello jazzmaster guitar. i like to think the finish and look is very close! thanks!

Good work – the finish is pretty dang close to the costello! Is that a jaguar?

That came out nice. She’s a beauty. And yes, you nailed the Elvis Costello vibe!
