These are some finished magician style wands I turned in the past 3 months on a wood lathe. Made from bloodwood, wenge, walnut, zebra and purpleheart. Some oaks in there too.
I never thought making ‘sticks’ would be a satisfying lathe project. They are. I especially LOVE the way the bloodwood works and the way it feels when its completed.
No stain was used on any but the oak in the first picture. Only wood wax to seal and protect was put on the exotic woods.
Next time I make some I’ll post pictures of the whole process I use.
