Here is my latest bench. The seat was destined for the firewood pile with the comment from a follow sawmiller, “You can’t make anything from that slab.” I took the challenge.
I had some other pieces of cedar that I had saved and combined the legs and stretcher to the seat.
I shop-made some 3/4 inch dowels from cedar and wedged a through mortis and tenon stretcher to keep things stable.
I left the bark on the legs, chainsaw marks and larva tracks. I scraped the milled surfaces and knots with glass scrappers. Finished with BLO.
Dimensions are 36” x 9” x 18”
I think it came out well.
