First cutting board, nothing special

This is my first attempt at making a cutting board. I was tired of using a giant, thick glass one that we have, so I made a small one out of maple and padauk. It’s about 6” x 9” and just over 1/2” thick and finished it with mineral oil.

You say ‘nothing special’. I say pshaw. It’s the BEST cutting board you’ve ever made, and a pretty one at that!

It’s special because it’s your first. Nice looking

-- Mother Nature created it, I just assemble it.

That looks pretty good – the color of the padauk really pops and the relieved edge and curved corners help give it a “finished” look.

We all have thought our first board is , perhaps nothing special.
Be inspred by others, as we have all been through the first board scenario

I like it, now try not to let the addiction grow. I didn’t plan on it but they let me turn out projects often enough to feel that I’m accomplishing something and there always seems to be a need for a gift.
