One of my major 2008 spring break projects, a 40’ x 10’ tall privacy screen. This thing is made from all recycled material, total cost 10 bucks for Portland cement.
A friend gave me 2 old redwood decks (10×12), which I hauled 10 miles to my house last year. Man, my wife was so proud of me when I drug them home. Almost as proud as when I hauled a beat up 50’s international harvester parts truck home and put a blue poly tarp over it.
But this spring break I ripped all the decking into a great privacy screen, which we plan on using as a trellis.

I thought I was seeing double there for a minute. I was so focused on the swing that I completely neglected the fence in the background. Very nice. And an excellent use of “scrap” material as well. Normally this would have either been burnt or ended up in a landfill. You have given the redwood a new and useful purpose that enhances your home.
This is an excellent post.

Nice work, lots of ripping? How big were the boards to begin with? 2×4’s or 2×6’s?
