A project that I completed during my spring break. Our second daughter was born in September and we thought bunk beds will be needed in the near future. We plan on white washing for a finish. This thing is solid as a rock even when I get my 200 lb. carcass on the top bunk. Made from dimensional lumber and a couple of sheets of plywood. It even breaks down pretty easily.
The ladder removes easily with a removal of a wooden pin, this will prevent my younger daughter from climbing up when we are not looking. Also the ladder can be used for monkey bars as my oldest has demonstrated so well.

I think I’d look at putting some sort of restraining fence on the top bunk to avoid thumps in the night :)

This is a nice set of bunk beds. And I see that the top bunk has already been claimed. I am sure that your daughters will enjoy this (at least until the oldest starts wanting her privacy). :)
Thanks for the post.
