Having just bought a load of misc. wood, I needed to get it organized quickly. I used 2×4’s and 1/2” pipe for a quick and effective setup.
2×4’s were jointed on the wall side for better surface contact with the wall. I bored 13/16” holes for the pipes and hollowed them out with a sandpaper contraption fitted into a drill chuck so that the pipes would fit easier (although I still had to pound them pretty good). The attached the 3 2×4’s to the wall with a number of 4 1/2” countersunk lag screws. About 2 hours and $30 for a quick setup.

If it works for you, then it never is cheap.
