Messed this one up

This one started life as an end grain cutting board until I decided to put a juice groove in it, then the router got away from me and messed it up , so I decided to just rout the whole dang thing out. On the plus side my wife serves me some pretty tasty sushi on it.

-- Everyone calls me Ed or Eddie , mom still calls me Edward if she is mad at me.

You need to title it a dual purpose board. Cutting one side and serving on the other.
I like the simplicity of the straight color patterns. I have made the fancy designs and hate to sell or give them away after all that work. This type of pattern could solve that dilemma.

Beautiful piece. Although I would argue that there is no such thing as tasty sushi.

Thanks for stopping to look and for the kind words. I am just glad I was able to make something out of it besides fire wood !!

I’d agree with the dual-purpose idea mentioned by Les B. The end grain cutting board I made for a chef friend of ours said it was a bit too large for her kitchen counter, so as much as it pained me, I cut-off a bit of it and am turning it into a matching smaller board on one side, and carving out the underside to use as a serving piece.

Sounds like it was a happy accident. Glad you thought a bit off the board, or rather took a bit off the board, and found a new use for it!

Funny , I was going to kid you about that being the widest juice groove that I’ve ever seen , before reading your story.
Very nice save in the end : )

I would eat sushi every day if the budget allowed. The grosser it looks, the better it tastes! (uni for example). This is actually a pretty good idea. Sanding that after routing it must have been no fun at all.
