I recently made a very similar coffee table out of sycamore and maple. To pay for this woodworking hobby of mine I sell the furniture that we don’t have room for on Etsy, I had the sycamore table on there and a lady ordered one with this combination (roasted maple and santos mahogany). I still have some matching end tables to put together to match and I will post those when they are done.
The roasted maple is on the brittle side due to the kiln process and made dovetailing difficult due to its tendency to flake and split. I got past this problem by gluing a piece of hickory to the drawer face…worked like a charm and looks pretty neat. Can’t see it while the drawer is closed and makes the dovetails stick out a little bit more when the drawer is open.
