Procrastination is fun sometimes

I’ve been working on an end table forever that is pretty complicated and I am getting a little frustrated. Yesterday I decided to to set it aside for a while and just turn a few pens. These came out really nice.

The cigar pen is katalox. This is the first one I have turned. I really like this style. I finally figured out how to get the subtle tapers I wanted by splitting the turned sections into 3rds and working from the bushings toward the center. It works well

The Euro pens are Lignum Vitae and a really nice piece of Bocote. I’m getting good that these, however on the LV pen I cut the tenon a bit too deep and you can see the union where the two pieces meet. I am happy with the shape though. I am also happy with the finish on each of these.

All pens possess immaculate beauty. Yes, sometimes, procrastination has its perks!

They look nice. It is sometimes nice to have a bit of distraction from the larger projects.

The distraction was perfect. I actually made a lot of progress and figured out simple solutions for things I was way over thinking. I really like turning the euro style pens. The cigar pens are really just big slim lines (with way more assembly steps). I think I want to try a screw cap style now.
