I was waiting for glue to dry yesterday so I jumped on the lathe and turned a couple pieces I had laid up a while back.
The first one is a Barrel bottle stopper made from plywood. I have been making all kinds of thngis out of plywood, why not wine bottle stoppers. The rings are painted black before the final cut and it is finished with clear matte spray
The other piece is a black corian egg cup made from six pieces of corian glued with 3 minute Epoxy from Harbor Freight. This one was some tough cutting even with freshly sharpened tools. I don’t know if black is harder than the lighter colors of corian. I think this is my best egg cup yet. There are no seams to be found. It is finished with EEE and Shellawax.

I like your barrel stopper. Clever idea. You sure have been busy cranking out the projects lately. Nice work.

Jim: As usual Good Job. I am been in the woods for the past couple days. I got bunches of wood. Red Box Elder, Plum, Mulberry, Wild Cherry. I have gobs which I have cut into smaller lengths and sealed all. I also have a 10’ X 6’ wide by 2” Tulip. I don’t know whether you have turned any of these or not?

Hi Danny. I’d love to try the tulip wood…......never had an access to it before. I have not done plum but I think it may crack like a lot of fruit wood. Turn some up and see what you think!!................Jim

Two nice project Jim, like the use of plywood, so much can be done with it. The egg cup is great Jim, love to see corian and different material used in projects.

Jim, your creativity is astounding. Unfortunately, this also makes the “I’m gonna borrow this idea” factor high. Well done dude. :)

You are the spin/turning master. That Corian looks awesome, so does the bottle stopper and everything else you do. :)
