My First Box

This is a box that I made out of curly walnut and birdseye maple with maple keys. This was made to hold my surgical loupes. It was my first box, and I was very proud of it, which made it hard when it was stolen out of my bag in the hospital. Took me awhile to build anything else after that.

Thanks for looking!

Great work. Don’t let the dirt bag beat you. You have a talent for this, to stop would allow them to steal one more thing from you.

Thomas – :) Yeah, probably should’ve made it a bit less conspicuous!

Monte – Thanks for the welcome. Good advice. I’ve moved on. No more taking my hobby to work, though!

Spectacular work and wood choices, hard to believe this is a first, so well exicuted.
The dirty thief dare not show it to anyone else because there is only one like it.
Welcome to LJ’s I’m looking forward to your future posts, you’ve got real talent.

That is a spectacular box and I feel your pain at having it stolen. Monte’s comment is spot on though. You built that one, you can build another! Love the wooden catch. That must be your own design as I haven’t seen that before. If you find the thief, call and we’ll help you dispense some “justice” (Redneck style!).

Outsanding. I would hope the thief gets some wood slivers under the fingernails. But alas the box was finished too well. I love the clasp on the front. Where did you get it?

Wonderful box, I am sure someone will let the cat out of the bag, see it someplace and make a comment at the hospital

Very nice box, good build and good choice of wood. All you can do is hope he enjoys and treasures it too. But you can make another, you’ve got the know how, you’ve got the skill, go for it.
