I build this boat about 3 years ago, and it got me addicted to woodworking. So i hardly ever use it, because woodworking is funner. Sorry no pics of it in water, 7.5ft long – short enough to fit in the back of a minivan. Built from pine and marine mahogany plywood, oak keel, and i fiberglass taped the seem on hull.

That’s too pretty to put in the water anyway!

That looks like a romantically cute thing to sit out on a small lake with the wife and should be in a disney movie. I like it.

Let me guess that one: you leave in the middle of Arizona, hours away from the nearest river, right? ;)
Looks real good! Welcome to LJs :)

Well done.
The sheerline shape is quite different. Whose design is it?
The sculling notch is sort of fun too.

here is the design from http://svensons.com/boat/?p=RowBoats/CarTopBoat . i tried to follow the plan, but i made some unintentional mods. I was just a unintelligent/overambitious/poor 12/13 year old Basically built it with Dad’s skill saw, uncles jigsaw, and used the same uncles miter saw. Funny thing, that the uncle bought me a jigsaw for my birthday the next year.

No apologies necessary.

You did a great job and for what it’s worth, your unintentional sheerline mod looks quite fashionable.

It’s good to start early. I built my first boat when I was about that age.

Great job on the boat.

I wish more 12/13 year old boys would get out in the garage or basement and try their hand at creating something this ambitious. Don’t apologize for your “unintentional mods” most of us do the same thing on our projects. Remember if you aren’t screwing up you’re not doing anything :).

That looks like a fun boat for pond fishing. Nice job.
